Our four week rehabilitation program is designed to treat patients with intractable chronic pain caused by a disability. During treatment, patients work with providers from multiple disciplines.
This allows our patients to receive intensive and consistent care throughout the duration of the program. Meetings occur regularly throughout the program, along with frequent communication with patients and their families by telephone and in person.
Our four week program includes multimodalities of physical therapy. Some kinds of physical therapy our patients may benefit from include; desensitization, remobilization, strengthening, hardening, range of motion, ultrasound, interferential, deep tissue massage, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, hydrotherapy in a swimming pool, Pilates, Feldenkrais, Alexander technique, intensive cardiovascular training, and progressive independent gym work.
Physical therapy often times reduces or eliminates pain entirely, improves mobility and creates a quicker recovery time in patients.
In addition to physical therapy our four week program may also include Biofeedback therapy. Biofeedback therapy is a technique that helps patients gain knowledge and control over some of their body’s functions, such as heart rate. During biofeedback therapy, patient’s are connected to electrical sensors that help them receive information about their body.
Our rehabilitation program emphasizes neuro biofeedback, which is electroencephalogram- EEG guided, TOVA, alpha wave therapy, muscle biofeedback which is EMG-guided, temperature biofeedback, as well as relaxation therapy.
